Joan Didion Collection
Designed a series of three cohesive trade paperback book jackets for a re-release of works by Joan Didion, including two essay collections and one memoir. The project explores how individual titles can maintain distinct visual identities while functioning as part of a unified design system. The central challenge was to visually communicate both the breadth of Didion’s literary voice and the specificity of each work. To address this, I developed a flexible framework that allows each cover to stand on its own, while shared typographic structure, pacing, and visual motifs create continuity across the series. In addition to the covers, I designed the spines to reinforce the system when the books are displayed together, creating a cohesive and engaging presence both individually and as a complete set.
